Emigre postet auf Iraq Blog Count die email eines US-Soldaten. Dieser berichtet über die Probleme, die er durch sein Weblog seitens der Vorgesetzten bekam. Mittlerweile betreibt er daher nur noch eine Mailingliste:

“There is no way to blog about Iraq without your unit finding out about it. The guys in my unit knew about my blog within a month or two from the time I started it, but it took a few months before my commander found it. The only way for a soldier to not get in trouble is to write nothing but insipidly agreeable and conspicuously patriotic content that is reviewed by his or her leadership before posting. So yes, I do feel as though my First Amendment rights were violated.”

Aber nun, dass die Armee ein genaueres Auge darauf hat was man aus einem Kriegsgebiet so bloggt, ist ja zumindest irgendwie nachzuvollziehen. Und ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich Soldatenblogs aus dem Irak bisher gemieden habe. Alle, über die ich bisher gestolpert bin, waren doch recht …hm… ‘einseitig’.
